Hermionne Ahouissou seals the victory

The women’s Tour de Lunsar presented by Zwift concluded with a back-to-back stage win for Hermionne Ahouissou. She crossed the line solo, unlike yesterday when she was able to take in the moment of victory along with teammates Yetonde Raimatou Kpovihouede and Georgette Vignonfodo. Nevertheless, it was the two other Beninese riders who placed second and third on the stage.

With a 20-lap criterium between them and overall victory, Benin put the hammer down from the opening laps and the race was rapidly blown to pieces. Two Sierra Leonean riders, Blessing Jabbie and Esther Mansaray, were able to hang with the pace for a while, but ultimately they too were ridden off the wheel.

The second stage concludes the 2024 women’s Tour de Lunsar, a bold step on from previous editions with a two-day programme, and the first competitors from a national team taking part. The organisation wishes to give our enormous thanks to the Benin Cycling Federation for their participation, not to mention the Tour de Lunsar’s title sponsor, Fundsmith, and to Zwift, who took up the sponsorship of the women’s race and allowed us to increase the event to two days.

Finally, we must also thank all the cycling fans around the world, and in particular those who contributed to our ‘Save the Tour’ crowdfunding campaign, without whom we simply would not be here.

Tenki plenty!
