From Lachlan to Lunsar

We had a very exciting and long-awaited arrival of kit last week as the Lunsar Cycling Team finally got our hands on kit donated by EF Pro Cycling professional cyclist Lachlan Morton.

The items he donated are his team’s 2019 livery and includes a wide range of items that our riders can use. It’s not just jerseys, the selection also includes cycling shoes, helmets, mitts, a skinsuit, caps and bib shorts.

Lachlan is a cyclist from Australia and has been a professional since 2013. His best results on the road include four stage wins at the Larry H.Miller Tour of Utah and the overall classification at the 2016 edition of the same race. He has gained a wider reputation over the past 18 months as the driving force behind EF Pro Cycling’s ‘Alternative Calendar’ alongside his road racing commitments. This has seen the 28-year-old take on some of the world’s hardest off-road races, including the GBDURO, a self-supported event between the two furthest points of the UK, US gravel races like Dirty Kanza, the Three Peaks Cyclocross race and more recently the ‘Badlands’ Transibérica Ultra Cycling race, a 719km odyssey in Southern Spain.

He donated the kit at the end of the 2019 season and since then it has gone on quite the journey. It first spent month in an apartment in Girona, Spain, before making its way back to London to be shipped. This was in early 2020 and unfortunately the original shipping date coincided with the early days of the covid-19 pandemic. We waited a few months but in August the kit was finally put on a boat bound for Sierra Leone. The shipment arrived in Freetown last week. It was a long journey, but it was well worth the wait.

Although we have many riders in the team, we hope that every one of them will get the chance to wear the kit, which will be used to signify who won our monthly races. These have been able to restart as the rainy season has finally eased. The design is quite unlike anything our riders have ever seen, but of course we still think our Lunsar Cycling Team jersey is hard to beat.

The haul donated by Lachlan Morton has quickly become the best cycling kit in the whole of Sierra Leone in terms of quality, such is the position the country is in. This shows how important kit donations are to every cyclist in Sierra Leone. Without them, we would have been unable to get our hands on such quality.

We’re always open to kit donations whatever type of cycling kit it is, old and new. Do you have some jerseys, shorts, helmets, bikes, pedals, etc. going unused? Our riders could really benefit from them. Professional or not, any kit is very much appreciated. We have many women in our team as well, so female specific cycling kit is especially coveted. Support cycling in Sierra Leone today and see how your donations make huge changes to our riders’ lives.

Donate Money via PAYPAL

Kit and equipment are fantastic, but help with race entries, food for riders and travelling expenses are also vital to keep us running.

We once again want to extend our sincere thanks to Lachlan Morton for donating his 2019 kit. It has made a huge impact here at the Lunsar Cycling Team and we hope that you will soon be racing against professionals from Sierra Leone. An invite to the Tour de Lunsar is always open.
