Andrew Jackson seizes stage 2 victory at Fundsmith Tour de Lunsar
Stage two of the Fundsmith #TourDeLunsar was action packed from start to finish, with Ibrahim ‘Bianchi’ Jalloh defending his place in the yellow jersey against all-comers.
The stage did not ever really settle into a routine, with attacks flying all day and several small breakaways forming and being brought back. Mohamed Bangura (Kono) spent time off the front, before Ibrahim A Turay (Treasure) managed to escape the pack long enough to pick up maximum points at the day’s KOM.
Finally, an elite selection was made, with ten riders heading for a hotly contested sprint in Lunsar.
While attacks continued to fly, with Joel Kyaviro (Black Mamba Development Squad) extremely active, it was Andrew Jackson (Something DFRNT) who got the gap. The American was able to distance everyone and take the finish line alone, with 43 seconds until the next pair of riders.
Abu Sheik Sesay (LCT X) took second position with a strong sprint to distance Bangura.
Race leader Jalloh finished safely and just ahead of general classification rival, Kyaviro,
It’s neck and neck on GC, with both Jalloh and Kyaviro on the same time. Tomorrow’s criterium stage will prove decisive.
