Stage Three

21 April 2024

Start / Finish: Lunsar

Distance: 75km

Elevation: 614m

The 2024 Tour de Lunsar culminates in the 30-lap criterium around the centre of Lunsar.

The course is short, punchy and technical, and after 29 laps in the legs, the small incline to the finish line will feel like a mighty mountain.

Race director, Karim Kamara says:

The whole race builds up to this, the final opportunity to take a victory. The last chance to disrupt the GC. Crowds in Lunsar will be huge by the time they reach the last lap of the 2024 Tour de Lunsar

2023

Bright Emmanuel broke away to take the final victory of the 2023 Tour de Lunsar. Relive the magical moment.

2022

The final stage in 2022 was won by Moses Lamin Kamara of LCT. His teammate Ibrahim Jalloh was not far behind, securing his overall GC win in the process.

2021

In 2021, the overall victory was secured by Sorie Koroma of LCT. He was the most consistent finisher throughout the race, a worthy GC victor.

Lunsar

Lunsar hosts the finish of all three stages and is of course home to Sierra Leone’s biggest cycling team, the Lunsar Cycling Team. The largest town in the district in terms of population, Lunsar is one of North Sierra Leone’s commercial and business hubs. Lunsar was first known for the mining of iron ore at the nearby Massaboin Hill and it is this practise that gives the town its name. “Sar,” in Temne means stone, as in the stone in which the iron ore was found. Now, Lunsar is of course best known for our great race and cycling team.
